What is Gauge Corrected Steel?
Cold Rolled Material is steel that can start life as either Hot Rolled or Cold Rolled, which is then rolled down on gauge after slitting. Normal ranges of reduction vary from 5-15% of the starting thickness. Subject to the starting hardness of material, not only is the gauge affected, but the cold rolling work hardens the steel and amends the mechanical properties as well as the gauge. Based on the finished requirements of the steel SPM can calculate the raw material and thickness required to achieve these requirements.
Why Choose a Gauge Corrected Steel?
Where applications require a very tight gauge control and brighter surface finish a cold rolled steel could be what you require. It also allows us to supply steel with mechanical properties that are not covered in the normal Euronorm grades.
