Cold Rolled Steel and Gauge Correction
SPM still operates one of the few remaing cold rolling mills in the UK. This niche product allows us to affect the gauge of material which gives extremely tight gauge control and inherent strength subject to the amount we reduce the gauge by.
By managing the input grade and thickness, we can produce products outside of normal EN standards specifically for customer needs. Typically unannealed, we can supply material with consistent inherent hardnesses to meet special customer needs. We have some automotive and pallet racking end users who enjoy the consistency and gauge/profile control we offer with this product.
Processing specification
Typically we produce steel from 1.00 mm up to 4.00mm and can offer reductions in gauge anything from 5% to 15% of starting thickness. The maximum width is around 300 mm on this line.
