What is a Galvanised and Coated Steel?
Coated Steels can either be Hot Rolled or Cold Rolled Substrate which is then dipped into a metallic bath and coated in either a pure zinc or a composite zinc/other metallic elements to meet the requirements of the finished component. Coatings are available in various weights, but as an example a Z275 coating would represent a total zinc coating weight of 275 grams/msq. Metallic coatings give steel a protective metallic layer to give a longer product life in the finished application. Generally the higher coating mass will provide a higher level of protection, but new Zinc Magnesium coating offer almost double protection in comparison to pure Zinc coating. For example a Zinc Magnesium coating ZM310 coating (310grams/msq) will offer the same protection as a Zinc Z600 (600grams/msq). Other coating types such as Aluminised (Aluminium Silicon) is good as a heat resistant coating type.
Why Choose a Coated Steel?
Coated Steels have a protective coating and these products tend to be used in many applications in the construction industry, where steel needs to have a certain lifespan. Different environments dictate what type of coating and coating weights are required. If you have any enquiries or need some assistance with this then please give us a call.
