What is hot rolled steel?
Hot Rolled Steel Coils is the first product that is produced by a mill from a reheated slab in traditional steel making and is generally available from 1.40 mm thickness. Typically used for items where the surface is non-critical and for some post galvanised applications HR is the most basic of products available from Steel Mills.
What is Pickling and Oiling?
After Hot Rolling a layer of scale will form when cooling and as material is not protected against the atmoshpere dry material can rust. Pickling and Oiling is a process whereby an acid is used to burn off any rust and scale and then oil is applied to giving it a protective layer against the elements.
